Curved Pool Conversion
with Automated Slatted Safety Cover
The project
Our clients had an existing frost damaged curved end concrete swimming pool that they wanted to refurbish and retro-fit with an in-ground automated slatted safety cover system. However, most slatted covers require a rectangular shape for proper operation. To accommodate their desired upgrade, significant modifications to the pool structure would be necessary.
Our team utilised our unique specialised “beaching” procedure to convert the curved end of the pool into a straight, rectangular shape. This intricate process involved lowering and removing the curved stepped entry, constructing new straight walled perimeter segments and creating transitional “beached” areas on each side of the steps.
Once the rectangular pool shape was achieved, we conducted a complete interior refurbishment of the swimming pool. This included installing a new mosaic tiled band and pool floor finishes, upgrading the filtration system with a multi-directional valve and pump media filter and adding an air-source heat pump for temperature control. The slatted cover system could then be installed seamlessly over the newly reformed rectangular pool area.
This comprehensive refurbishment utilised quality materials from top suppliers. The swimming pool construction materials were sourced from local Lawsons Builders Merchants, while the pool equipment package came from our trusted partners at SCP Pool Suppliers.
By converting the curved end to a rectangular shape, we enabled the installation of an automated slatted cover for enhanced safety and ease of use. Combined with the fully remodelled interior, new tiling and upgraded equipment, this project has given our clients a stunning, low-maintenance swimming pool to enjoy for years to come.
